Which way do you turn your wheels parking uphill?
Short answer
Away from the curb. Then let the car roll back a little so the back of the front tire rests against the curb.

How to do it
- Pull close to the curb.
- Turn the wheels away from the curb.
- Let the car roll back gently until the front tire rests against the curb.
- Set the parking brake and put the car in park.
Why the rule works this way
Facing uphill, the car would roll backward. Turning the wheels out means the back of the tire hits the curb and stops it.
Common mistakes
- Mixing up uphill and downhill.
- Turning toward the curb uphill, which lets the car roll into the street.
